Going on a run is not only an amazing workout that improves your fitness and stamina – being outside is also a great way to de-stress. You can go by yourself or with a friend for free, or even join a local running or athletics group to meet like-minded runners.

But how do I get involved?

Find a running group near you in England at Run Together, in Scotland at Jog Scotland, in Wales at iRun or in Northern Ireland at Athletics Northern Ireland.

If you’re feeling competitive you can find a race near you, or if you’re just starting out try Couch to 5k.

There’s a number of running disciplines to choose from at England Athletics and find your local club at British Athletics.
